    <p>I've had some people <span title="complain">ask</span> me about the Spartan nature of my <ins datetime="2008-06-18" title="June 18, 2008">current</ins> site layout. The <a href="commentary" title="Commentary Policy" rel="dct:references">commentary</a> has been overwhelmingly in the realm of <q>Hey, you used to be a <abbr title="World Wide Web">Web</abbr> designer, why haven't you put more effort into the look of your site?</q>.</p>
    <p>Well, the short answer is that I have <a href="policy/resource-handling-and-representation" title="Resource Handling and Representation" rel="dct:references">bigger fish to fry</a>. The more verbose answer is that I've mulled over the layout extensively and didn't get very far, save for a few things I was completely sure about. So, I put up what you <span title="should be seeing at least">see</span> here. A friend once related to me years ago that when he was in art school, a teacher told him that he had to master black and white before moving on to colour. I've kept that notion in mind when designing this site.</p>
    <p>I also spent the first quarter of this year working extensively with <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PostScript" title="PostScript &#x2014; Wikipedia" rel="dct:references">PostScript</a> and a black and white laser printer, so I think something happened there.</p>
