I've had some people ask me about the Spartan nature of my current site layout. The commentary has been overwhelmingly in the realm of Hey, you used to be a Web designer, why haven't you put more effort into the look of your site?

Well, the short answer is that I have bigger fish to fry. The more verbose answer is that I've mulled over the layout extensively and didn't get very far, save for a few things I was completely sure about. So, I put up what you see here. A friend once related to me years ago that when he was in art school, a teacher told him that he had to master black and white before moving on to colour. I've kept that notion in mind when designing this site.
I also spent the first quarter of this year working extensively with PostScript and a black and white laser printer, so I think something happened there.
